When and Where is the 2007 Tremont Walk for Chonobyl?
- The 5K walk will be on Saturday, September 29, 2007 and will begin near Lincoln Park in the Historic Tremont district.
What will happen the morning of the Tremont Walk
for Chonobyl?
- Pre-registered participants should come to the registration tent (see map) to check in and pickup their T-shirt
- Registration tent will be open at 8:00 a.m.
- Prayer Service will be held at The Ukrainian Museum-Archives on Kenilworth Avenue located near the registration tent and will begin at 9:00 a.m.
- Walk begins at 10:00 a.m.
What if I can’t get to the walk by 10:00 a.m.,
can I still participate?
- The registration tent will remain open until 11am; participants may begin the walk as long as the registration tent is open.
Can I still join the Tremont Walk for Chornobyl if I did not pre-register on time?
- If you, your friends, or family members missed the September 8th deadline, bring your walker registration form, $25 fee (+any additional pledges) and walker’s signed waiver to the registration tent. Please be aware that you will not be guaranteed a commemorative T-shirt. We welcome all to participate for this worthwhile cause!
What should I bring to the Walk?
- Bring your pledge envelope, including pledge sheet, making sure to include any cash and check pledges in an envelope to the registration tent (remove this:: and walker’s signed waiver) on the day of the walk if you have not sent them in.
- Light jacket, umbrella, sun block, hat, water bottle, etc.
What if it rains, do we still walk?
- Yes, we walk rain or shine. We reserve the right to postpone or cancel the walk in extreme circumstances. If the Tremont Walk for Chernobyl is cancelled, no refunds will be issued. Your entry fee will be used as a donation to The Children of Chornobyl Research and Development Fund.
Can I bring a pet?
- Sorry, no pets will be allowed.
How can I get my t-shirt if I registered on-line or by mail?
- Please pick up your t-shirts the day of the walk at the registration tent.
Can I pick up my t-shirt prior to the race?
- No, t-shirts may be picked up the day of the walk only.
When is the registration deadline?
- Online and paper registration forms must be received by September 8, 2007. If you register after this date, you will not be guaranteed a commemorative t-shirt.
Will I receive confirmation of my entry?
- If you register online, you will receive a confirmation. If you register by mail, no confirmation will be sent.
How old do you have to be to participate?
- Anyone age 18 and older can participate in the Tremont Walk for Chornobyl. All participants under the age of 18 must have a signed waiver by a parent or guardian. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult during this event.
Are entry fees tax deductible?
- The Tremont Walk for Chornobyl is a 501C3 organization. Please check with your tax advisor regarding eligibility of tax deductions.
Writing a check?
- All checks should be payable to: Tremont Walk for Chornobyl.
Where is the money collected going to?
- All pledges and entry fees (minus t-shirt costs) will be donated to Children of Chornobyl Research and Development Fund.
If I am unable to walk but would like to come down to the Tremont area on the day of the Walk, is there anything
I can do?
- Please visit the Ukrainian Museum-Archives located at 1202 Kenilworth Avenue across from Lincoln park to see a Chornobyl exhibit.
